FACILITIES FOR FOREIGN TOURISTS ON INDIAN RAILWAYS
Several important trains have a special quota for foreign tourists. This can be availed on payment of US Dollars or pound sterling. Special quota can also be availed by the foreign tourists on production of the exchange certificate issued by any nationalized bank. At the time of reservation, the passport number and the country of origin should be mentioned. At major reservation centers special cells have been set up to help foreign tourists plan their itinerary. Reserve their tickets and tender any assistance required.
The ministry of railways has also relaxed the requirement of mentioning the age of foreign travelers while seeking railway reservations. The age of the foreign tourists is not insisted upon when they seek the advance reservation through authorized rain tourist agents or general sales agents abroad. However at the time of seeking reservation. The passport number and the country of origin should invariably be given.
INTERNATIONAL TOURIST BUREAU (ITB)
The ITB situated on the 1st floor of New Delhi Railway Station provides personalized service and assistance to foreign tourists and NRI’s. Regarding bookings, reservation, itinerary planning and other inquiries through its tourism guide and staff conversant in foreign languages. The ITB functions between 0730 hrs to 1700 hrs on all weekdays. The ITB also arranges for confirmed reservations for foreign tourist through tourist quota in all classes of trains. Indrail passes are issued here to foreign tourists. The ITB arranges accommodation, retiring rooms and rail yatri niwas’s and also bedrolls on trains on demand. The ITB at New Delhi coordinate with the general sales agents in ensuring supply of indrail passes and providing reservation on messages from the agents.

To explore the splendor of multifaceted India, Indian Railways introduced indrail passes which provide excellent value for money and enhance the charm of holidays for visitors from abroad. Passes are only available for foreign nationals and NRI’s on payment of US Dollars, pound sterling and other convertible foreign currencies. The passes are also available for half day, two days and four days for the facility of visitors visiting only one or two connecting destinations.

The above rates are effective from 1st April, 99. The Fare quoted is already brought down in certain categories by 10% to promote tourism. The Indrail Passes are sold through general sales agents at various worldwide agencies. These G.S.A. are in constant touch with Indian Railways through faxes and telex facilities. They are provided with printing, stock and supply of Indrail Passes along with "Trains at at a Glance" by the Indian Railways to serve the foreign guests in a better way.
In India Indrail passes are also available for sale in International Tourist Bureau, New Delhi and Railway Reservation Offices at all major junctions. At Agra Cantt, Agra City, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Aurangabad, Bangalore City, Calcutta, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gorakhpur, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, New Delhi, Puttaparthi Town.
Varanasi, Vasco Da Gama and Vijawada. Certain recognized travel agents are also authorized to sell these passes in Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Chennai.
PALACE ON WHEELS

Tariff does not include liquor, laundry, video cameras and other itmes of personal nature.

FAIRY QUEEN
This 144-year-old pristine beauty, now comes alive. It runs with the oldest working stem locomotive in the world, kept at the National Rail Museum, New Delhi. The Fairy Queen has recently featured in the Guinness book of world records as the oldest running steam engine. The vintage Fairy Queen has also won the National Tourism Award. It is scheduled to run once again twice a month in the current tourist season i.e. October '99 to Feb '2000 taking 50 discerning passenger on an unforgettable two-day weekend trip from Delhi to Alwar on selected days. The train consists of just one first class chair car and a pantry car. The two-day trip includes departure from Delhi Cantt. Railway Station at 1000 Hrs. On day 1, reaching Alwar at 1600 Hrs. On the same day, the train is being run in joint venture with "Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation" (RTDC).
